FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who Made this website?
Initially started by Dr Dave Wandless - a forever trainee and general shyster. You can see his credentials here.
Who is this website for?
It was created by Dr Dave Wandless initially for himself as reference and backup for his exam notes, but has grown to apply to any postgraduate "General/Core" trainee, or any member of the MDT who has an active role in clinical work

What are the "Glance guides"?
They're summaries of an area, intended to fit on one page A4 (double side, to be fair) for quick reference. They're not the full magilla, but enough for most people's needs on a normal day.
How do you know they have enough info?
We use them ourselves in clinical practice, and add/subtract where necessary. We openly advocate for people to contact us to suggest what they think should or shouldn't be in there.
Who's checking these are right?

Site moderators whenever guidance changes or twice a year. Most importantly, if you notice an error you should contact us. We use our membership community as an asset to keep these sharp.
Are there specialists involved?
We use general references used for exams and up to date research into (UK) National guidance to keep this at a "trainee level". Specialists love adding esoteric fluff to things that you won't need. That being said, if any specialists want a crack get in touch
Where are your references?
We add hyperlinks to referenced areas where possible to cut down bloat (and save real estate), and mostly use the same national (NICE) guidance - where we deviate we link.
Who is funding this?
You are. We try to maintain as few conflicts of interest as possible so our Blog entries reflect real world hidden-curriculum concepts. We hate to charge so we do Patreon/Crowdfunding stuff only enough to stop our Spouses from murdering us in our sleep.
Where's your publication credentials to make guides like this?

Do us a favour - get bent.

In all seriousness, we've made these in good faith people will help curate them. Every author puts their stamp on them - so ask them direct if you have any concerns, or get in touch.
Where are the past paper questions?
We don't do those. There are lots of Question banks out there, courses too, that do things way better than a part-time moocher like me could manage. If you take us up on our exam notes we list some of the major players so you can decide for yourself
I'm A Medical student, is this for me?
Not at present, again - you want medical school level notes go to Geeky Medics or somewhere else that does that well. You'll get to this stage eventually, or we might get to yours - lets see who wins!
There's something I'd love covered, can I request it?

Of course! Get in touch and we'll have a think - we might even get you involved!
Why can't I download the Glance guides?
We've been in enough Dropbox Past-paper/Study groups to know nothing stays sacred in PDF form. We need to keep these valid and updatable - and best way is to control the source.

Never mind, figured it out - thanks!

Dude - don't be a dick.
But realistically, any downloaded guide has a shelf life - any updated ones only come to those uploaded. If some are in circulation - they're just out of date advertising really and we can't recommend you use them.
I think I want to sue you for using the guide...
Really. That's not even a question.
Sigh... I'm duty bound to inform you that even though we try to maintain a level of accuracy fit for clinical practice, and use these guides ourselves, they are no substitute for clinical acumen and should be used as a guide - not a de facto protocol. Your local area may have different guidance, and you should always use common sense with application of any guide and or text. Given the crowd-sourced nature of these guides, they are constantly in flux and as such should not be a substitute for knowing the topic before implementing them.

In a word - use them as you would the Pirate code: more like guidelines than actual rules.

Can I use your stuff on my site?
